Village School

On Wednesday 26th Nov. we all visited the local primary school to meet the pupils and have a look around. That didn’t take long because there are only two classrooms, one teacher and nine pupils. The children were aged 5-9 and they all come from Moti Pethan. School starts at 10am and finishes at 5pm. The children have a 20 minute break in the morning and the same in the afternoon with half an hour for lunch. The school meal comes from the secondary school nearby and is paid for by the government. The school uniforms are paid for by our dada! (grandfather)

The children are very disciplined and they will do anything the teacher asks them. As you can see from the pictures there are no desks and the children sit in rows on the floor. None of the pupils’ work is put on display, it gets locked away in cupboards! Instead the wall displays look really old-fashioned and worn.

While we were there they performed a funny little song and dance which I’ll show you when I get back. see ya, Sanjeev x

Glad to hear that there are well behaved and disciplined school children still in the world. If only it was like this here I’d be back to teaching like a shot. It is lovely to see and read about some of the things you’ve been doing. And FANTASTIC to speak to Bharti, and for Ieuan to speek to Sunesh . . . an early Xmas present indeed. Missing you all.
    lots of love
